IRON WILL Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the Iron Will app (the "App") keeps on your phone, what it sends elsewhere, and who receives it. "We" and "us" means Iron Will.
- Your training stays on your phone. Workouts, sets, reps, weights, notes, routines, personal records and history are stored on your device. There is no Iron Will account and no Iron Will server that holds them.
- A small amount of other information does leave the phone, to the services named in section 2: PostHog (app usage), Sentry (crash reports), RevenueCat (purchases, iPhone only), Expo (app updates), and Apple or Google (the app stores).
- No ads, no selling, no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
1. What stays on your phone
Everything you enter or create in the App is stored on your device:
- workouts, exercises, sets, reps, weights, RPE, notes, timestamps and personal records;
- routines, programmes and custom exercises;
- recovery estimates worked out from your training history;
- your onboarding answers and settings, such as units and rest-timer length; and
- a snapshot of a workout in progress, so you can pick up where you left off.
Rest-timer alerts are scheduled on the phone itself. They do not use a server.
We cannot see any of this, and we cannot recover it if your phone is lost, wiped or damaged. Your phone's own backup (for example iCloud Backup) is the safety net.
2. What leaves your phone, and who receives it
Below is every service the App sends information to, and exactly what each one receives.
PostHog — app usage
Tells us how many people use the App, how the first-launch questions go, and how the Iron Will Pro screen performs.
PostHog receives these events:
- App opened and closed: when the App is installed or updated, opened, brought back to the screen, or sent to the background.
- Your three onboarding answers: your goal (for example "build muscle"), your experience level, and how many days a week you plan to train. PostHog also receives which onboarding step you reached, how long each answer took, and whether you left part-way through.
- Iron Will Pro screen events: the screen was shown, and from which part of the App; you tapped to buy, which plan, and whether the purchase went through; you tapped Restore Purchases and whether it worked; or you closed the screen without buying.
Each event comes with a random ID the App creates for your installation, which is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID. It also includes the App version, phone make and model, operating system and version, language, time zone and screen size. PostHog also receives your IP address, which it uses to estimate a rough location, such as your country and city.
PostHog does not receive your workouts or anything you log. Automatic tracking of taps and screens is turned off, and so is session recording.

Sentry — crash and error reports
Tells us when the App crashes or something goes wrong, so we can fix it.
- When the App crashes or hits an error, Sentry receives the error message and where in the App's code it happened. It also receives the App version, phone model, operating system version, language and time zone, and device state such as free memory and storage.
- The moments before the error: the App's most recent log lines, which on-screen controls were tapped, and which web addresses the App contacted. Some of those log lines describe what you were doing: the name of an exercise you picked, a finished workout's totals (its length, total weight lifted, and number of sets and exercises), which week and day of a programme you are on, or a muscle you tapped on the heat map. These lines are only sent as part of a crash or error report.
- A short note each time you use the App, saying that a session started and ended and whether it crashed. For a random one in five samples, Sentry also receives performance timings, such as how long the App took to start and how smoothly screens drew.
- A random ID for your installation, not linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
Sentry receives your IP address with each report, as any internet service does. The App has Sentry's personal-information setting switched off, which tells Sentry not to save the address with the report. Screenshots and screen recordings are switched off.

RevenueCat — purchases (iPhone only)
Checks your App Store purchases with Apple and tells the App whether you have Iron Will Pro.
From version 1.0.1, on iPhone, the App contacts RevenueCat each time it opens and whenever you buy or restore. RevenueCat receives:
- an anonymous ID it creates for your installation. It contains no name or email, and Iron Will has no login, so it is never linked to one;
- your App Store purchase records for Iron Will: which plan, when you bought it, renewal and expiry dates, price and currency, and your App Store country; and
- technical details: App version, iPhone model, iOS version, preferred languages, and the identifier Apple gives each developer for your phone. That identifier is the same across one developer's apps and changes if you delete all of them.
The Android version does not use RevenueCat.
Expo — app updates
Lets us ship fixes to the App without a full store update.
When the App opens, it asks Expo's update service whether a newer version of its code is available. The request carries your platform (iPhone or Android), the App version, the update you are running, a random ID for your installation and, if a previous update failed to start, a short description of that error. It carries nothing about you or your workouts.
Apple's App Store and Google Play
Deliver the App, and on iPhone take payment.
Apple handles downloads and every payment on iPhone. If you install Iron Will from Google Play, Google handles the download. Both work under their own privacy policies. If you have chosen in your phone's settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple or Google may also give us summary statistics and crash logs.
Emails you send us
If you write to us, we receive what you send: your email address, your message and any attachments. Settings › Send Feedback opens your mail app with the App version, build number and phone platform already filled in, and you can see all of it before you send.
3. Exporting your data
Settings › Export Data (JSON) saves a JSON file with every workout, routine and custom exercise, then opens your phone's share sheet. The file goes only where you send it, such as Files, email, cloud storage or another app. After that, the place you sent it handles it under its own privacy terms. The App cannot load a backup file back in yet.
4. Deleting your data
- Settings › Reset All Data permanently deletes your workouts, routines, custom exercises, settings, onboarding answers and any workout in progress from the phone. A few small items stay: where you are in an active programme, the rest-timer state, and a marker recording whether you are a founding member, so a reset does not take away free Pro.
- Deleting the App removes everything it stored on the phone, including those items and the random IDs used by PostHog, Sentry, Expo and RevenueCat. Reset All Data does not change those IDs.
- Exported files must be deleted from wherever you saved or sent them.
- Information already sent to PostHog, Sentry or RevenueCat: email us and we will delete what we can find. Those records carry no name or email, so we may not be able to tell which ones are yours. It helps to tell us roughly when you used the App and on which phone.
There is no switch inside the App to turn off usage analytics or crash reports. Deleting the App stops all of it.
5. How long information is kept
- On your phone: until you reset it or delete the App.
- PostHog and Sentry: for the retention period of our plan with each service, after which it is deleted.
- RevenueCat: for as long as it is needed to keep subscriptions, renewals and Restore Purchases working.
- Emails: for as long as we need them to help you and to keep ordinary business records.
6. What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads, share data for advertising, or track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. That is why the App never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission.
We share information only with the services named in section 2, with the places you choose when you export, when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect people's safety or the security of the App. If Iron Will is ever sold or transferred to a new owner, this policy goes with it.
If the law where you live requires a legal basis for processing, ours are: providing the App and the purchases you ask for; our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and understanding how it is used; and meeting legal obligations.
7. Purchases and subscriptions
Iron Will Pro is sold as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. On iPhone it is bought through Apple's App Store. There are no paid plans on Android yet. We never see, receive or store your card number, bank details or billing address. Those go to Apple, not to us.
Whether you hold a purchase is checked by RevenueCat with Apple, as described in section 2. Your workouts and history are not part of that check.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. To cancel, go to Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on your iPhone, or use Manage subscription in the App's Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal and does not delete anything you have recorded. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy; we cannot issue them.
The lifetime purchase is a single payment with no renewal. If you reinstall the App or move to a new iPhone with the same Apple Account, tap Restore Purchases in Settings to get it back.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to how it is used, to receive a copy of it, or to withdraw consent. Your training data is already in your hands: it is on your phone, and you can export or delete it yourself. For anything held by the services in section 2, email us. We will not treat you differently for using these rights, and you can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Where information is processed
PostHog and Sentry store Iron Will's data on servers in the United States. RevenueCat and Expo are US companies. If you live elsewhere, your information may be processed in a country with different data-protection laws from yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on contractual or other recognised safeguards for those transfers.
10. Children
Iron Will is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can look into it and act on it.
11. Security
Data on your phone is protected by your phone's own security, so keep a passcode on it and look after your backups and any files you export. The services in section 2 receive information over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
When the App changes what it sends or who receives it, we update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and give further notice where the law requires it.
